Practical financial tips is what Wiser Dollar is all about. Strategies for increasing income, reducing debt and freeing up more time are shared routinely. But I am not the only one generating such tips. When I find articles and resources that are helpful, I like to pass them on. So below are articles and a resource I find helpful.
A few days ago, I posted an article called How to Use Credit Cards to Make Money. While this is a money making strategy, I also mentioned that this tactic should be applied only if you pay off the cards in full each month. If you carry a balance on credit cards, then paying off the cards should be priority as credit cards typically charge a very high interest rate. A helpful calculator in understanding how fast you can pay off cards based on interest being charged and amount owed may be found at Bankrate’s Credit Card Payoff Calculator.
Another recent article I published was on How to Save Money at Lowe’s. An article addressing how to save money at one of Lowe’s competitors is on Wise Bread‘s site. Check out 6 Surprising Ways to Maximize Your Savings at Home Depot. One additional strategy not mentioned in the article is to purchase Lowe’s 10% off coupons through Ebay. Home Depot typically honors competitors’ coupons. So for $8 to $10 you can usually secure 3 or 4 coupons. This is especially helpful for more pricey purchases.
Finally, a helpful article on conserving financially comes from Michelle Schroeder-Gardner’s site, Making Sense of Cents. Her article, Why You Should Spend Like A Millionaire- The Frugal and Smart Money Habits of Millionaires, is a condensed overview of money saving principles similar to the book, The Millionaire Next Door.
If you come across articles with helpful financial strategies and tips, then please let me know. Have a good day!
